Ages ago, the hospitality industry figured out that people feel welcome if they feel relaxed, and that people are more relaxed in clean and tidy surroundings than in dirty or cluttered ones. Try it for yourself. How does it feel walking into a restaurant where the tables are carefully set, lined up and the chairs tucked in compared to a dining room with incomplete settings askew and chairs haphazardly placed alongside tables in a crooked line?

We feel less at ease faced with chaos than we do with order, even if we don’t consciously recognize the source of our unease or stress. Spaces that are dirty and disorderly with nowhere to put anything down promote anxiety and the feeling of being overwhelmed. On the other hand, spaces that are clean, organized and uncluttered promote calmness and clarity. It is much better to enjoy and relax in an orderly and organized room than it is to not use the room at all because there’s nowhere to sit down and enjoy it.

About Us

Diane is a farm-girl and Alex is a city-boy. We met, married and live in British Columbia, and are now a 50-something, adventurous, non-smoking couple. We have travelled both ways around the world together, managed a variety of hospitality and recreation businesses, owned and operated a popular guesthouse, and now are travelling once again. We were owned by three amazing cats for over twenty years, and they trained us to care for them purrfectly.
